Andy Bathgate, was elected to the hockey hall of fame in 1978. Best known as a New York Ranger, Bathgate won the Hart Trophy (MVP) in 1958-59. Andy was famous for his booming slap shot and was responsible for shooting a puck into the face of Jacque Plante leading to the first goalie mask in NHL history.
