Edmonton Oilers, play in the Western Conference and are 1 of five teams in the Northwest Division. In 1979, Edmonton and 3 other teams from the WHA joined the NHL in a merger of the 2 leagues. The teams original name was the Alberta Oilers but was later changed when they moved to the NHL. The Oilers name was inspired by the vast amount of oil reserves located in Alberta. The Edmonton Oilers wear uniforms of blue, copper, and white and their home arena is at the Rexall Place.
