Gerry Cheevers, developed in the Toronto Maple Leafs organization, ended up being claimed by the Boston Bruins in 1965. Cheevers was one of the first goalies to ever handle the puck outside his crease and played on Boston teams that included Bobby Orr and Phil Esposito. Cheevers won 2 Stanley Cups and set a record going unbeaten in 32 games before leaving the NHL for the WHA. He was famous for painting stitches on his goalie mask.
