Johnny Bower, claimed by the Toronto Maple Leafs from Cleveland in 1958, established himself as the Leafs #1 goalie at the age of 34. He is known for pioneering what is referred to as the "poke-check", diving head first into the oppositions skates in an attempt to poke away the puck with his stick. Amazingly he never wore a mask. Bower won 3 straight cups with the Leafs and retired as the oldest goalie to ever play in the NHL at the age of 46.
