Mats Sundin, was the first European to ever get drafted first overall, when the Quebec Nordiques selected him in 1989. One of the greatest players to ever come out of Sweden, Sundin is one of 3 Swedes to have won 3 World Championships. In 1994 he was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs where his solid play made him the first foreign captain in Maple Leaf history. Sundin was the first Swedish player to ever record 1,000 NHL points.
